Are you Ramadan Ready?
Ramadan is indeed special! It is the sacred month in which the Quran was revealed. ‘ The Night of Power’ falls in this blessed month. Imagine the Shaytaan is chained and the gates of Jannah are opened. The opportunities to gain closeness to Allah are numerous, and for sure we all want to make the most of it. We aim for a perfect Ramadan where we present the best of ourselves to Allah (SWT)to seek His mercy and forgiveness.
But are we ready?
Just like we have career goals, travel goals etc. Do we have Ramadan Goals?
Here are 5 steps to get started:
- Write down all the things you would like to achieve this Ramadan.
- Then, categorise your Ramadan aspirations into different categories: Spiritual Goals, Self Improvement Goals, Family/Parenting Goals and Work Goals.
- Now, prioritise one or two goals from each category focusing more on Spiritual Goals. I personally did three from Spiritual Goals and one goal from each of the other categories.
- After that, look at the attainable goals and turn them into daily to-do list by thinking about what you need to do every day in order to achieve the goal. Example GOAL: Learn about the Seerah of Mohammed (PBUH) TO-DO: Listen to Mufti Menk’s series on Life of Mohammed (PBUH) whilst cooking or commuting to work.
- Finally, make a daily Ramadan routine including all the items from your To-Do list. This will ensure that you are getting closer to achieve your goal by doing a little bit each day.
