I cannot count how many time mama’s have told me

I cannot count how many time mama’s have told me,
❗“I've been trying really hard to STOP Yelling, Punishing and threatening for a very long time! I have tried so many strategies from the internet…. But I just can't STOP!

❣️I get it. Because I was there too!
I tried so many different tools and strategies but Yelling, punishing and bribing was my knee jerk reaction when my children did not behave the way I wanted them to..

🌱 Working my way through this journey I realised that SURFACE LEVEL BAND AID FIXES(just strategies) WILL NOT HELP!

Let me explain with the help of my unique model.
“The Vicious CYCLE of TRADITIONAL DISCIPLINE”

According to my unique model, it all begins with expectation.

An expectation you either have from yourself, your spouse , your child.

When these expectations are not met it TRIGGERS this cycle. 😫

So, are expectations the real issue?

No!

As long as we are human we will all have expectations and expecting ourselves to not have expectations is an unrealistic expectation in itself. 💚

And the list can go on!
MAY BE IT WORKED FOR THEM!

🎓Those Parenting Gurus were just adding educational value and teaching strategies without much awareness and attention to the mindset required to be the EMPOWERED, PEACEFUL MUSLIM MAMA!
BUT, they continued to teach what worked for them in their parenting WITHOUT FOCUSING ON:
💥How different the muslim family dynamics are,
💥How our role as mothers is the biggest blessing, and amanah from ALLAH,
💥How you are a completely different individual to them and,
💥How unique your children and their needs are.

1️⃣Believed I needed to be FIXED: I believed

1️⃣Believed I needed to be FIXED:
I believed my bad habits, difficult experiences and incompetencies left me BROKEN and I needed some help to fix up.
How wrong was I!
Feeding into the idea that I was broken and needed fixing up just left me feeling unworthy, not good enough and flawed.
I learnt along the way :
No one is BROKEN and no one needs FIXING because Allah created me WHOLE and I am a perfectly imperfect sign of ALLAH.

2️⃣Rushing to be “THE BEST VERSION OF MYSELF!”
Oh boy! This was a biggie for me. I had this almost insane sense of urgency to GROW and become the BEST VERSION OF MYSELF.
I read far too many books, took a dozen courses, invested in programs to work on the different areas of myself that needed attention.
I took too much in too quickly!
Information overload left me with very little time and energy to take action on the information resulting in BURN OUT and some serious OVERWHELM.
I learnt the beauty of slowing down, just BEING rather than DOING all the time and accepting myself for exactly who I am.

3️⃣Expecting PERFECTION :
Yes I am a recovering perfectionist and this is something I have to be mindful of till date because it’s very easy for me to slip into the perfectionist tendencies and they can be DANGEROUS.
I was expecting myself to be consistent 100% of the time .
I was expecting myself to be calm, composed and emotionally stable all the time.
I was expecting myself to be connected to my husband and children in every waking moment.
And the list went on, I was putting unimaginable amounts of pressure on myself.
Which was extremely UNREALISTIC and would leave me feeling rubbish about myself when I wasn’t able to live up to these crazy expectations.
I learnt to have compassion for myself and accept my humanness.
Above all I learnt Peace is not achieved by being PERFECT but only by accepting my IMPERFECTIONS and making PEACE with them.

🧕When women reach out to me for help and say:
“ I’m struggling in my marriage, I do so much for him, I DON’T KNOW WHERE I AM GOING WRONG.”
“I’m fed up with shouting and punishing my children, they just DON’T LISTEN to me. I am FAILING as a mum.”
😔I empathise with them and compassionately ask them how this makes them feel about themselves.
😢The most common answers I get are:
“ I feel like a failure!”
“ I feel like I am not good enough.”
“ I feel like I need to constantly prove my love to my husband and children.”
“ I feel like I am in a reactive state all the time.”
“I feel lonely, why is raising a family so hard for me when everyone seems to be acing it”
“I feel like I will never have the peaceful life I wanted.”

💔What I hear behind these heartbreaking statements is that these women have an unhealthy relationship with themselves as a result of which the relationship they have with their family suffers.

When you don’t find yourself WORTHY:
You are in a relationship with yourself that you don’t LOVE,
You find yourself deeply flawed and not good enough.
Imagine you have to be in this relationship for the rest of your life.
How would that relationship affect your thoughts, behaviors, and actions in your day-to-day life?
It will surely leave you:
Angry,
Frustrated,&
Lonely
Where you will find it extremely hard to build healthy relationships with the people around you because,
❤️You can truly give LOVE ONLY when you have loved for yourself,
You can only show COMPASSION if you have compassion for yourself.
You can genuinely TRUST others only when you fully TRUST yourself.
You can only CONNECT with your husband and children when you feel connected to yourself!

Because the relationship you have with your husband and children will be a reflection of the relationship you have with yourself!

“He should know how I feel.” “Why can’t he

“He should know how I feel.”
“Why can’t he see how much I do? I'm tired, Isn’t it obvious that I need him to help.”

I can’t even begin to count how many times I hear these statements from women I speak to and work with.

These statements are basically expecting your husband to be a MIND READER.
How can you expect your husband to know what thoughts and feelings are going on in your mind?
He surely does not live in your head….

So expecting him to read your mind is totally unfair and leads to:
😢Increased conflict
🤨Shutting down
🤐Silent treatment
😔Loneliness
😒Blame shifting

It took me years of hiding behind excuses (lies) to invest in myself and my family's peace.
There was always an excuse (lie) I was giving myself

🤥I was LYING to myself:
“I don’t have money”
When the TRUTH was:
“ I didn’t believe I’m WORTHY of spending the money on !

🤨I was DOUBTING myself and saying:
“Will this program/ course work for me?”
In REALITY:
I didn't TRUST myself enough to put in the work that might be required to change.

🙄I would find EXCUSES and say:
“I already have a lot going on in my life, I don't have time for this!
In FACT, I believed:
I was not CAPABLE and RESOURCEFUL to make time for this investment!

🤥I BLUFFED to myself :
“My husband would never agree.”
But in all HONESTY,
I was allowing my husband to decide if I get to be the person I always wanted to be and live the life I always wanted.

🙄I put up a PRETENCE and said :
“I am OK and will wait for the right time.”
But deep within I knew:
Changing myself was not a NON-NEGOTIABLE for me and I was comfortable in my unhappiness.

Allah swt himself says in the Quran:
“Verily, Allah will not change the condition of a people as long as they do not change what is within themselves.”
QURAN 13:11

Investing in myself allowed me to do just that:
It allowed me to change what was within me, rather than look for flaws and mistakes in my husband and children.
Alhamdulillah, it has been almost 7 years since I made the first investment in myself.
I can confidently say that:
Investing in my growth has given me the most priceless
Return on investment:PEACE within MYSELF AND HARMONY IN MY FAMILY .
That's the reason I commit to continue investing my time, energy and money in my growth because its a lifelong journey.

This powerhouse of a woman showed up consistently

This powerhouse of a woman showed up consistently for coaching and the results she saw were mindblowing.

Not only could she see the changes but people around her started to notice how much happier she was within just two months of coaching with me.

Alhamdulillah, all this and more was possible for her only because ALLAH made it possible!

NOT THE CHILDREN YOU RAISE !

Let me share with you some facts I learnt about Taqwa from my respected mentors,
❤️ Taqwa lives in your heart.
💪It’s a muscle, it increases and decreases in strength based on your actions.
🏋️‍♀️Ramadan is a training ground for strengthening this muscle.
Just like the muscles in our body get stronger by:
🏃‍♀️Cardio exercises,
🏋️‍♀️Weight training &
🍱 Healthy eating

The Taqwa muscle in your heart gets stronger by:
✅Fasting
✅Dhikr
✅Salah
Recitation of the Quran
Seeking forgiveness from Allah &
Being mindful and conscious of Allah in our day to day activities.

Just like we PREPARE our body by eliminating the bad eating habits and inactive lifestyle, in order to make room for healthier habits that build and strengthen our muscles.
Similarly, we need to prepare our hearts to strengthen the Taqwa muscle by getting rid of:
❌Malice,
❌Jealousy,
❌Grudges, &
❌Unlawful desires that consume our hearts and leave no room for the TAQWA MUSCLE TO GROW !

So before we enter this blessed month,
✨FORGIVE anyone who has wronged you,

Here is what it leads to in your marriage:

💥It creates distance between you and your husband and increses the communication gap which can lead to bad habits like silent treatment.
💥It considerably increases arguments and fights which makes you feel like you are at war in your marriage all the time.
💥The intimacy in your marriage almost disappears because you lose respect for each other.
👹Both you and your husband feel POWERLESS and the winner is SHAITAN!
💥BLAME GAME is extremely destructive, it shows that you and your husband are unable to navigate a difficult situation together.

When I ask my clients, what do they do to look aft

When I ask my clients, what do they do to look after their mental, physical and emotional needs? Here are some of the responses I get:
🙄I never have the time for self-care
☹️I am so tired by the end of the day that I can't be bothered with myself.
😒I have so many responsibilities, how can I possibly look after myself?

When we dive deeper and peel off all the layers of excuses.
I find that 99% of the time these Mammas believe,
“ SELFCARE IS SELFISH” and this is because:
⚡️They feel guilty prioritising themselves when they know their children need them more.
⚡️They fear judgment, that they will be labeled as a bad mother who cares less about her family.
⚡️They believe that they will be classified as SELFISH if they put their needs.

As a result of this, they will begin to neglect their needs and lose themselves to motherhood, which further leads to:
❌Resentment towards husband.
❌Impatience and frustration towards children.
❌Forgetting who they were before they became mothers.

🤬In a nutshell they are ANGRY, OVERWHELMED, MOMSTERS WHO DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES, AND ARE NOW STRUGGLING TO FULFILL THEIR DUTIES AS A MOTHER.

If you are one of them if want you to know,
🌟SELF CARE IS NOT SELFISH🌟
⚡️Taking care of yourself is not SELFISH in fact, it's an ESSENTIAL PART of being the EMPOWERED, RELAXED AND PEACEFUL MAMA you always wanted to be because:
💫When you prioritise your needs you don't feel exhausted all the time, this empowers you to take ownership and responsibility for meeting your family's priorities.
💫Taking care of your own needs means that you are happier within yourself and can take care of your family without resenting them or expecting them to validate and appreciate you.
💫When we take time out for ourselves, we give ourselves the opportunity to become more aware of our emotions and triggers and become more at peace

🔥So in reality by taking care of yourself you are actually enabling yourself to take better care of your family.
