Suhoor – The Blessed Sunnah
Skipping Suhoor has become a norm these days. Some of us complain about the lack of time or find it hard to wake up and eat before dawn, while others simply neglect the benefits of this huge blessing.
The Messenger(saws) said, “Take Suhoor, as there is a blessing in it.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
Suhoor sets the tone for our fast, it gives the energy we need to worship Allah (SWT). When we lack physical strength and are hungry it may lead to irritability which can put us in a bad mood, snapping at people around us. Skipping Suhoor makes us feel lethargic and we might find it hard to perform our daily tasks. Eating suhoor is sunnah, so if we eat with the intention of obeying the command of The Messenger (PBUH) then it is an act of worship. Lastly, The Prophet said,
“The difference between our fasting and the fasting of the people of the book is eating Suhoor. “
(Muslim)
