Why do we Fast?
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may become righteous.”
Quran 2:183
The purpose of fasting is to develop the quality of righteousness (taqwa), inwardly and outwardly, by abstaining from sinful deeds and training ourselves to control our minds and bodies. Fasting is a deeply spiritual practice that is meant to benefit us in body, mind, and heart.
